Napkin Fold Card

I first saw this napkin fold on Stacey's blog, (Stacey's post has a link to the tutorial) I thought it was a very cool idea and wanted to give it a try. It is made from a 12" x 12" sheet of shimmery white card stock and measures 6"x6" when closed.  The edging is done with a Martha Stewart *punch around the page*.  The papers are some that I have in my stash, ribbon is from Walmart.

Here it is opened up.
The centre could be decorated or used for a sentiment. I didn't decorate the corners because the paper is so nice & I thought it would look okay plain, but I may decide to add something....maybe a little  bling like is on the front.

A closer look at the front decoration, this is part of the belly band which holds it closed & ties with a ribbon.  I chose this ribbon because it is so pretty but it is quite stiff & doesn't make a very nice bow.  Next time I would use a softer, wider ribbon so that I could tie a nicer bow.

This is the back, the band is glued down.

Thanks for dropping by,

Okay ~ let's try again!

As you can see from my last post I took the card apart and started again.  I had wanted to use buttons, but just couldn't seem to find the right spot for them on the other one.

A close up.
The colour looks different in this one, just taken at a slightly different angle changes the light and makes it look different.

On a different note, some of you will have heard about the severe storm we had here in central Alberta yesterday.  A tornado touched down not far from us... a bit too close for comfort, pretty scary!  According to news reports 3 tornado's touched down in central Alberta causing over a million dollars worth of damage, but no-one was hurt, so that's good to hear.  Our son, Andrew has some pictures on his blog of a storm they encountered just a few days ago, it is quite something to see, you can go here if you'd like to see them.

 Anywaaaay......that's it for now,

Until next time, take care....

Framed Bear

The frame and teddy bear are from Jean's website.  I rounded his head and tummy by burnishing on the back with the end of a pen.  The ribbon is from Walmart.
As you can see from the little *whiskers* on the edge of my papers, my trimmer blade needed to be changed, I didn't notice until I'd finished...it shows up against the black.  I may have to re-do it, it will bug me if I leave it.
Close-up of the bow which I made with my home made bow *tool*
They look pretty crude, but they work!

Vintage Sheet Music Card

I came across these digi images and loved them.  They are the creation of Jean Hall and you can find them here. They are free to take for personal use, thanks so much Jean!

I used my EK punch to make a border and added a strip of ribbon, bow, and a pearl to it.

I printed off the flower and butterfly on card stock, cut them out and backed them with brown c/s and cut out again.

The inside, using another of Jean's flowers.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by today,

I'm right chuffed!

I'm feeling pretty chuffed (happy) right now because I just crocheted these hearts.  (I know, it doesn't take much some days!) I've been wanting to try them, but thought they would be too difficult.  I was wrong - they're easy peasy!  I found a really easy-to-follow video here  There are tutorials for other crochet projects too.

Thanks for blogging along to visit.

Any Excuse!

My friend has a new washer & dryer and since I look for any excuse to make a card, I thought this was as good an occasion as any! hee hee!
I saw a *hangin out* sentiment and this card....and my mind went into *scrap-it* mode.  I already had the digi images, all I needed was a laundry basket image and I found a free one online.  I used one of my pictures from England for the background.

Here's a couple of closer views of it.

....and the inside

Well, that's all for today folks - have a wonderful day
Thanks for looking!
